About 195 Flags

Every flag on Earth,
built by its people.

How it works

There are 195 national flags on this site, and every one of them is a canvas of 62,500 squares. Any square can be yours for $1.99. You pick your country, zoom into the exact spot you want, and claim one square or a block of up to 50 in a single order.

Each square you buy is a time capsule. Your name goes on it, along with your town if you like, a message of up to 140 characters, and a photo. Once your payment lands, the capsule is sealed: it is public, it is permanent, and nobody can ever change it, including you. Zoomed out, your country's flag emerges square by square from everyone who claimed a piece of it.

Payment is handled by Stripe and works with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any major card. Your card details never touch our servers.

The $40,000 draw

Here is the part worth telling your friends about. When a flag is fully covered, every one of its 62,500 squares sealed, we hold a live draw for that flag. One square is drawn at random, and its owner wins $40,000.

Every square you own in that flag is one entry in its draw, so ten squares means ten chances. The draw is streamed live, the winning square number is published on the flag's page, and we contact the winner directly at the email they gave when they claimed their square.

To keep the competition fair and lawful, entry requires two things at checkout: a correct answer to a country-specific skill question, and an email address we can reach you on. Your email is never shown to anyone else and is never used for anything except contacting winners about the draw.

When it's gone, it's gone

No flag ever gets a second edition. Once all 62,500 squares are sealed, that flag is finished for good: a permanent mosaic of the people who built it, frozen exactly as they left it. The earlier you claim, the longer your square is part of the story.
